London Collections Men: SS16 Trends

The fashion focus has been firmly on the boys this week as the biannual London Collections Men returned to the capital on Friday.

Taking place over four days at venues across London, the fashion extravaganza boasted some 70 shows from the biggest names in the menswear sector, including some of our very own Designers at Debenhams – Henry Holland with his debut LCM House of Holland show, Patrick Grant with his label E.Tautz, and Todd Lynn.

On the Catwalk

Want to know what you’ll be wearing this time next year? We’ve been checking out the looks from all the fashion shows at LCM and bring you a round up the top SS16 trends:

Hey Shorty

In spring-summer ’16 we can expect to see a lot more leg, as shorts, well, become very short. Forget the days of dodgy below-the-knee tan lines as shorts see a rise in hemline, and popularity – think 80s style running shorts cut high to the thigh. Wear with pulled up socks, zip-up shirts and oversized sweatshirts for instant style kudos.

Eastern Promise

Designers are giving us a taste of the Orient in SS16 with oriental prints and silhouettes gracing the catwalk. East meets West as Chinoiserie prints fuse with sports luxe finishes and changshan shapes are modernised with metallic prints.

90s Rave

Designers brought the rave to the runway for SS16 with trippy prints, acid brights and technical fabrics reminiscent of athletic-style 90s clubwear.

In the Jungle

Gents, get set to embark on an exotic adventure as designers take you deep into the jungle for SS16 with lush green tones, vibrant tropical florals, palm prints and safari animal patterns.

Far and Wide

Shorts may be getting shorter, but trousers are getting wider. Wave goodbye to your skinnies because billowing trousers are set to be big news. Even Designer at Debenhams, Patrick Grant, ended his E.Tautz show sporting a pair of voluminous trousers (below right).

Off the Catwalk

The fashion was not just reserved to the catwalks as the world’s most stylish men descended on London’s streets. As well as FROW-regulars, David Gandy and Oliver Cheshire, street stylistas also turned out in force. Here are a few of our favourite looks.
