NTAs: Red Carpet Glamour

The National Television Awards returned for its 20th year last night – in showstopping style. Celebrating the best of British television, the main focus of our attention was reserved for the red carpet. Forget who won ‘Best Drama’. For us, it was all about who was ‘Best Dressed’…

Dazzling in a variety of stylish gowns in every guise, from the boldest of colours to most subtle of nudes, we’ve rounded up a few our of favourite looks from last night. Fancy stealing their style? We’ve rounded up a few of our own gorgeous occasionwear dresses, guaranteed to help you achieve that award-winning look.

Natural Beauties

Natural BeautiesGet the look– from left: No. 1 by Jenny Packham white beaded dress (coming soon), Coast multi-tie dress.

Get the look– from left: Yves Saint Laurent touche eclat, Lancome flash bronzer, Clarins lip balm perfector, Babyliss salon soft waves wand.

Several celebrities chose nude coloured gowns with an added touch of sparkle, with stars such as Jacqueline Jossa and Lorraine Kelly opting for elegant gowns that shimmered with style. The latter looked stunning in our very own No. 1 by Jenny Packham sequinned gown – we always knew that woman had some serious style credentials. Sammy Winward and Fiona Wade kept things chic, teaming their own simple nude evening dresses with metallic bags and delicate jewellery. Make-up was key to the effortless look; loosely waved hair and highlighted skin ensured the natural beauties looked flawless, all ready for their red carpet close up.

Bold Brights

Bold BrightsGet the look– from left: Ariella London red long dress, Phase Eight cobalt full length dress.

Get the look– from left: MAC pro lipstick, MAC lip pencil, Lancome Hypnose mascara, Aveda Pure Abundance style prep.

In stark contrast to the nude trend, many stars opted for a look that was polar opposite, dressing to be noticed in the brightest of colours and boldest of gowns. Rochelle Humes looked the belle of the ball in a red satin dress with matching pillar box red lipstick, while Maddy Hill, awarded ‘Newcomer of the Year’ last night, looked electric in her sheer blue dress and block heels. Both were sporting textured updos, allowing their statement dresses to do all the talking.

Black Tie

Get the look– from left: MAC A Lightness of Being nail lacquer, lllmasqua sheer lipgloss, Bobbi Brown light brow kit, Lancome Hypnose eye palette.

Of course, it wouldn’t be an award ceremony without classic black making an appearance, with both Amanda Holden and Sheridan Smith playing to the dark side. We did loved the silver detail on Sheridan’s dress, with the silver detail on bust the perfect way to add a modern touch to a fashion faithful.  Teamed with silver drop earrings and slicked back hair, the look was incredibly punk meets chic . Smokey eye shadow and groomed brows enhanced the smoldering look.
