Monday Musings: Things we’re loving this week…

From must-reads to must-buys, here is our list of everything you need to do, wear and see now.

If you’ve not started thinking about Christmas shopping yet, it’s the time to do so. With payday around the corner and our great gift event on there is no better time to start ticking off your lists. Our gift event starts today online and from tomorrow in stores, with discounts available on our best gifts including beauty and fragrance, so you better be quick.

Michael Bond’s infamous bear is due to hit the big screen. Paddington Bear has captured children’s hearts from 1958 and now he is being taken into the modern age with a new film. The comedy is due for release on Friday, so it’s the perfect way to spend a frosty winters evening. Also, remember to look out for the statues around London, each has been created by a celebrity…

Somerset house is the place for all things fashion and this Thursday the latest fashion photography exhibition will open. Showcasing the influential Guy Bourdin’s work as well as a number of unseen photographs, the exhibition is a must-see for all fashion lovers.

Currently office talk is all about Christmas parties; where to go, what to wear and how to style your hair. This party season we’re loving plaits. Whether you choose a romantic pinned up do or cutesy, traditional twin plaits, there is a plaited do for every party look this festive season.

Christmas is all about the kids (so they say) so why not take a night off for an adult only night at Night Tales in hipster Shoreditch? The pop-up cocktail, music and food night features private chalets, log fires and a huge canopy to protect against the winter chill. With burgers from Patty & Bun on the menu it sounds right up our street.

Whether you can believe it or not, December is just a few days away -so if you haven’t already- it’s time to pick up that must-have advent calendar. We’re loving the Benefit beauty calendar – it’s mini products are sure to brighten up every gloomy day. If you can’t get your hands on one of these, there are plenty of cute options, from mini sacks to fill yourself to Jelly Belly calendars.

The Savile Row maven and creator of Hammond & Co. Patrick Grant has released a new inspirational book. Named ‘Orginal Man’, the book celebrates unique style and individuality.  Instead of showcasing the most well known singers, stylists and actors, the book showcases the lives of the ordinary, so it’s a great gift for every man.

The Queen and precious metals come hand in hand so it seems apt that the new gold exhibition is at The Queen’s Gallery at Buckingham Palace. ‘Gold’ will show some of the most striking gold pieces in history. So even if you can’t afford real gold this Christmas, you can at least admire it from afar.
